Secondary school, Slovakia
Did you know that Bratislava has one of the top secondary schools in Slovakia? Thousands of applicants apply to the school every year, but only the top 150 are accepted. They take only the best of the best, then give them the best conditions for education and growth.
After many long years, the school decided to renovate the floor in the entry hall. It was time to replace the old ceramic tiles with a new surface. The administration decided to do it with the same diligence as everything. They ripped out the old tiles to expose the original base layer, which they evened out with a levelling compound.
A problem arose when they discovered that the levelling compound had cracked because the floor was in fluctuation. That made it impossible to install any flooring that was fixed to the subfloor. They needed something that would allow for a floating installation. At the same time, they needed a floor that would match the playful and elegant look of the school.
The answer for them was Fortelock Business flooring, tiles that can be laid without gluing or fixing. The tiles are strong and durable, designed for environments with heavy foot traffic, such as school premises. There are more than 50 designs to choose from, complemented by three colour shades for the grout between the tiles.
“We wanted a floor that could be laid floating and that would fit in with the design of the school.”
The school opted for the elegant Galibier T95 with graphite toned grout. This older decor was replaced in 2024 with the similar Sauda Cold Lava G003, now one of the top sellers.
